The Benefits of Massage

It isn't just "skin deep." This ancient therapy has been practiced because massage therapy has a myriad of short term and long term benefit.

Reflexology

A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflex points in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.

swedish massage

A deeply relaxing modality that focuses on complete relaxation with mild pressure and long, flowing massage strokes.  A session usually includes work on the full body (i.e neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, gluteus and back) but can be modified based on what is necessary for the client. There is no trigger point work or deep pressure that causes pain or discomfort.

deep tissue

A massage with deeper pressure. Focus is mostly on getting muscles to relax but also working the knots out. Targets chronic hypertonic muscles. Some pain or discomfort is present but not to the point of being intolerable. It is important to keep a good line of communication so that we can "work the body" and at the same time comfort it.
